  • Mastering Pennsylvania Search and Seizure – Homes, Hotels, Search Warrants, and Exceptions

Currently, police officers are being held accountable for their actions more than ever before. Officers cannot possibly know what to do legally when they’ve been relying on “the way we’ve always done it.” Police academies and mandatory update training are no longer enough to adequately prepare officers for the high stress, high liability decisions they must make on a daily basis. Street Cop Training strives to show police officers what they are doing wrong and how to do it right based on prior court decisions.

Mastering Pennsylvania Search and Seizure: Volume 2 is intended for all Pennsylvania police officers, from the rookie to the seasoned veteran. This course provides an in-depth discussion of advanced search and seizure topics with a focus on clarifying commonly misunderstood issues that often lead to evidence exclusion, lawsuits, and other problems for police officers. The instructor explains these topics in a practical, entertaining, and easily understood manner.

Topics discussed include authoring and executing search warrants properly, home entry and searching private residences, state constitutional law limitations, exceptions to the search warrant requirement, defining exigent circumstances, hotels/motels, electronic device searches, legal research, report writing, courtroom testimony, and more! You will leave this course with the confidence required to make informed decisions in a variety of common scenarios.

Mastering Pennsylvania Search and Seizure: Volume 2 is a great addition to the highly acclaimed MPSS: Vol. 1, but students may choose to take the courses in any order.
