This course is perfect for the pro-active police officer looking to expand their all-crimes approach to criminal interdiction. Criminal Enterprises utilize our nations network of highways and interstates to transport contraband throughout our communities and cities. The process of transporting narcotics, money, marijuana, bulk cigarettes and various other contraband is a fluid evolution of adapting to police interdiction teams across the nation. This course will allow officers to dive further into a disciplined approach to locating, identifying, and seizing contraband on our nation’s roadways. Drug Trafficking Organizations and Organized Criminal Enterprises use various methods to deter police presence, which includes various methods of transport. This course will discuss the completely legal process of identifying criminal vehicles, recognizing criminal behavior, and how to think outside the box when searching motor vehicles.

Instructor Brian Konopka will discuss how to conduct interdiction efforts on our nation’s interstates, highways, and country roads. The student will learn how to build an interdiction case from start to finish, by recognizing reactions to police presence, identifying criminal vehicles, identifying deceptive behavior, and locating concealment methods utilized by drug trafficking organizations and cartels. Additional topics of discussion will include: identifying cigarette traffickers and how cigarette smuggling funds terrorist organizations like Al Qaeda, Hezbollah, and Hamas; Free tools that pro-active cops should use to build their case, how to articulate observations observed during the course of a traffic stop, and furthering the investigation beyond the stop.

Instructor Brian Konopka is as Highway Criminal Interdiction officer tasked with conducting criminal interdiction efforts on a series of our nations Interstates. Konopka has invested over six hundred hours of training into studying criminal interdiction. He has personally seized dozens of kilograms of narcotics, including over one hundred fifty pounds of cocaine, hundreds of pounds of marijuana, over one million dollars in United States Currency, and thousands of cartons of cigarettes. Prior to serving as a Police Officer, Konopka served in the United States Marine Corps deploying in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. After returning home, he obtained a Master of Science Degree in Homeland Security where he specialized in Terrorism and Security Studies.
