Lifesaving Medical Tactics for Law Enforcement
  • October 12, 2023
  • 9:00 am – 4:00 pm
  • East Rutherford Municipal Building
    117 Stanley Street
    East Rutherford, NJ 07073

The typical medical training that personnel receive in their basic academy does very little to realistically prepare the recruit for situations that officers come across on a daily basis throughout the country.  This course provides the medical training that law enforcement personnel deserve!  This course is a jam-packed full day of training that breaks down a myriad of medical issues and solutions to those issues in a way that is relatable, understandable, and easy to immediately implement.

The life-saving tactics and liability reduction methods that are discussed within this course are taught by a very knowledgeable, experienced, and passionate instructor with over 25 years of continual experience within a wide array of public safety disciplines.  Additionally, this course has been reviewed for evidence based medical accuracy by a board-certified emergency department physician.

The value that this course provides is immense!  The instruction within this course goes far beyond JUST tourniquet application training.  Other topics that are covered in detail include but are not limited to:

  • How opioids and other drugs work within the body and the CORRECT use of Narcan / Bag Valve Mask

  • Case law regarding medical incidents and alternate causes of an altered mental status beyond drugs and alcohol

  • Unified response to patients experiencing excited delirium

  • What is most likely to kill a person to what is least likely to kill a person and how to mitigate those emergencies per CoTCCC guidelines

  • Bleeding cessation techniques; efficient and effective TQ use, wound packing, hemostatic gauze discussion, and pressure dressing application

  • Basic airway management, chest seal use and shock mitigation

  • Law enforcement specific patient assessment and remote patient assessment

  • Officer rescue techniques / Use of LE vehicles to transport severely injured persons to the hospital

  • Unconventional solutions and proper mindset for extraordinary events

  • Proper medical equipment selections and where to purchase

Officers will learn to adopt the mindset of winning and surviving the fight if wounded in the line of duty. They will be trained on the benefits of being able to self-treat wounds, further enabling them to continue with an offensive response enabling them to win.  This course also provides each attendee with an Individual First Aid Kit that contains a North American Rescue CAT Generation 7 Tourniquet, 2 Hyfin Vented Chest Seals, 1 Pair of Nitrile Gloves, 1 Package of QuikClot, and 1 Emergency Pressure Dressing.  This kit alone is valued at $110.
